Blu Suite Hotel

Summer and Riviera Romagnola. A great holiday classic. But that certainly does not re- call to mind atmospheres of peacefulness  and relaxation. And I know how important relaxation  is for Blu Suite guests. In fact they often ask me: “Katia, staying  in  your hotel is great, but if i wanted to go out? What would you advise me in order   to avoid crowds and chaos?

Here in this hot month of July I propose my personal guide to:

"Where to find peace and quiet  in the Romagna Riviera at the peak  of the tourist season"

Sea
Ok, the sea of Rimini is not the sea of Sardinia. And this is known. But as for services we are unbeatable. I always recommend staying at the hotel beach. It is one of the very few cases of "private beach" where only hotel guests can access, so you are very comfortable, there are not endless rows of sunbeds and there is no risk of losing children. You will find games, showers and the beach bar.

Il Parco del Gelso

A couple of kilometers from the hotel there  is a large green park of about 40 hectares with an artificial lake made from a former sand pit where you can also fish. It is a perfect place for an outdoor walk, even for those who want to run or engage in sports: there is in fact an area equipped with fitness equipment. For children there is a dedicated area with games and reproductions of life-size prehistoric animals.

A boat trip

A nice idea for a different afternoon is a boat trip along the Adriatic coast. From the nearby port  of Bellaria you can embark for panoramic  mini-cruises with Happy hour  or dinner on board. Ask at reception for updated itineraries and times!
Or you can also rent a private boat, with or without a skipper, for a trip to the most beautiful bays of the coast.

A bit of water sports ...

At 400 meters from the hotel there is a nautical club where you can take lessons and practice sailing, sport fishing and sup (a kind of surf that is done standing on the table, helped by a paddle).

Trips out of town

Rimini and the Riviera are not just the seafront and beaches. I always advise my guests to go far from the coast to discover places that are little known and quiet.

The historic center of Rimini

The center of Rimini is not along the coast, but further inland: you can get there by crossing the Tiberius Bridge and find yourself immersed in a completely different atmosphere from the waterfront. Historical palaces, medieval churches: don't miss the Tempio Malatestiano (the cathedral of Rimini), the Roman domus of the surgeon and the Cinema Fulgor, the cinema main character  of the life and works of Federico Fellini.

An evening stroll in the historic center of Rimini, among the murals that recall the works of Fellini is always a pleasant experience!

Borough of Sant’Arcangelo

Sant’Arcangelo is a medieval village ten minutes drive from the Blu Suite Hotel. It is located at the top of a hill and is a place of atmosphere and poetry ...

Here, on hot summer days, a hike in the fresh tuff caves is always pleasant: a path carved into the clay and sandstone of about 5-6 km. In the Middle Ages they were used as cellars for Sangiovese, during the Second World War as shelters.

After visiting the caves you can stroll through the center of the village and maybe have dinner at one of the excellent restaurants in the village.

Verrucchio and the Val Marecchia

For a bike ride, I always recommend the cycle path that starts in Rimini and arrives in Novafeltria along the banks of the Marecchia river. It is a 35 km long flat stretch that can also be done with electric bikes rented at the hotel.

During the journey to visit there is the Rocca Malatestiana or Rocca del Sasso, one of the largest and best preserved of the lordship, around which there is a perfectly preserved medieval village. It is also worth stopping for a visit to the Etruscan Museum where findings from the early Iron Age are on display.
